Welcome to the Created for Connection® Retreat

A Sacramento Area Couples Retreat for Christian Couples

Do Any of these Questions Resonate with your life recently?

  • Has staying at home increased the stress and decreased the closeness in your relationship?
  • Do you want to learn more about how the science of love and the Christian scriptures describe the same cohesive picture of secure love in relationships?
  • Do you desire more closeness and less conflict in your relationship but often feel ‘stuck’ in the same destructive patterns?
  • Do you and your partner long for ways to communicate that deepen instead of destroy connection?

We are passionate about helping couples answer these questions in our Created for Connection Retreat.

Created for Connection Retreat is a hands-on couples retreat that integrates the work of Dr. Sue Johnson, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and a Christian perspective on attachment.

Julie Black, LMFT and Allison Harrington, Psy.D. are licensed clinicians trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples.  EFT was developed primarily by Sue Johnson, Ph.D.  Its effectiveness with couples has been well documented by peer-reviewed clinical research for the past 30 years.

Julie and Allison are passionate about helping couples stop destructive patterns, deepen connection, and learn how to communicate in ways that build a secure and lifelong bond.  The Created for Connection Retreat is directive, positive, and outlines the map for secure love. The main components of the retreat for couples include:

  • Understand an integrated picture of bonding from Attachment Science and Christian Scripture
  • Recognize and stop negative patterns of interaction in the relationship
  • Revisit and repair interactions that are difficult, confusing and often destructive
  • The importance of forgiveness and how to walk through the 6-step process of repairing difficult and deep injuries
  • The importance of identifying and expressing deep bonding needs and longings in order to achieve emotional closeness
  • How love and bonding influence physical affection and sex
  • The importance of keeping love alive and tools to create and maintain secure connection over a lifetime
